The dedication and inscription on the two gifts showed that Dalai trusted the Central Government's policies towards Tibet after its peaceful liberation and spoke highly of the achievements gained by the troops and envoys in Tibet under the leadership of the CPC. Moreover,he also wrote in Tibetan The Song to Chairman Mao-Prayers for His Eternal Health and Happiness, praising that Mao Zedong was a great leader like the sun shining all over the land, people took him as an affectionate mother protecting them and his works were as precious as pearls, rich and powerful, like sea tide reaching the horizon.
What was the attitude of Dalai Lama himself towards this Song to Chairman Mao? How about the other people's attitude towards it? A.Tom Grunfeld,a famous Canadian scholar, published The Making of Modern Tibet in 1987,pointing out: 'The Dalai Lama wrote a surprising poem to Mao Zedong. He only recognized it recently and argued that writing a poem was a very common thing in Tibetan culture. However,he flattered Mao Zedong with poise in the poem,
showing no sign of hatred for the entry of Han people in Tibet.1
Taking up the Post of Chairman of the Preparatory Committee for the Tibet Autonomous Region
In the summer of 1955,the Dalai and Panchen Lamas returned to Tibet from the hinterland. The preparatory work of the Preparatory Committee for the Tibet Autonomous Region was gradually carried out.On September 20,the preparatory office was established, with Ngapo Ngawang Jigme as director.
