The Yangtze River is the third Longest River in the world after the Nile in Africa and the Amazon in South America. From its source to its mouth, the Land surface it flows through slopes down from west to east in a three-step staircase. The Yangtze basin has diverse topography, including mountains, hills, basins, plateaus and plains. With thousands of tributaries, the Yangtze River carries more water than any other river in China. The Three Gorges Dam, the world's Largest hydropower station, is built on the river.
