Details

Pudong, short for "the east of the Huangpu River" in Chinese, is the symbol of success and achievement. Perhaps a set of interesting facts may help explain what Pudong really signifies as the bridgehead for China's reform and opening to the outside world: from the Wai Bai Du Bridge at the intersection of the Suzhou Creek and Huangpu River, built in 1907 to the Nan Pu Bridge - the first bridge spanning the Huangpu River, which began to be built in 1989, the distance is just a few miles, yet nearly a century had elapsed in between. Later, people started chasing the sun by going east to Pudong and stepped onto the "Bridge of Rainbow" leading to a better future, and the pendulum of history swung for only 14 years.
