Chinese Paradiseis a series of children’s elementaryChinese textbooks targeted at primary school students in other countries; it isa key textbook project of Hanban. Its first English edition was published in2005, followed by a succession of 45 language editions of the Level 1 books. Atpresent, the series has been sold to more than 50 countries and areas in theworld, been widely used in primary and middle schools overseas and become themost popular overseas children’s Chinese textbooks.Since 2013Beijing Language and Culture University Press has begun to revise the publishedbooks and compile the follow-ups. The second edition of the whole series hasaltogether six levels, suitable for students of Grades 1-6 in primary schoolsoutside of China and in international schools in China. Each level comprisesone textbook (with a CD), one workbook (with a CD), one set of word cards (forall language editions), one teacher’s book (for all language editions), onecorresponding reader, one set of tests, and four multimedia CD-ROMs.This is Workbook 3 of the Ukrainian edition matching Textbook 2,including six units, 12 lessons. Each lesson provides 6-8 exercises, fallinginto four sections—Chinese Pinyin, Chinese characters, words and conversations,which are supported by dynamic and innovative illustrations and designs andtake lively and interesting forms, such as placing stickers, coloring, drawinglines, and solving mazes, etc. There are in addition topic-relevant handicraftactivities. At the end of the book are pages of stickers.
About the Author
Liu Fuhua is the deputy dean of College of theHumanities and International Language College of Jilin University, whoseresearch involves teaching of Chinese as a foreign language, internationalChinese teaching materials, and international Chinese education. Ms. Liu hasengaged in the teaching of Chinese as a foreign language since 1985 and has presidedover several key textbook projects planned by Hanban. She has published twoacademic books, General Discussions onLinguisticsand ChinesePronunciation Training Course, five international Chinese textbooks andmore than 30 academic papers on international Chinese education, etc.
