Lexical technicality in scientific texts is most prominently reflected in its heavy employ-ment of terminology, which accounts for between 5-10 percent of the entire vocabulary of anaverage scientific text. The specific percentage may vary from one type of scientific text to an-other, as it is easy to imagine that popular science writers may strive to resort to as few tech-nical terms as possible so as to not faze the non-professional readers.
